Hope
The Cross has a deep spiritual meaning for me. I love to paint with
texture and combining the soul and art together then has a double purpose. As
seen in the Frog Cross painting made with old pins that were collected by my mother
and myself over the years, it reflects memories of the past and fond thoughts
of Mom. Frog stands for (F)orever (R)ely (O)n (G)od. Butterflies depict renewal
and are an ongoing favorite subject.
It is my way of recycling with meaning.
I have used styrofoam, (from take out food), old used aluminum foil, and old jewelry
that is no longer wearable. The technique I use in main the crosses comes from
several mediums. Mainly, I use acrylic paint. I have used this particular method
since the nineteen sixties.
My hope is that everyone who views my crosses
will be left with a sense of meaning to their lives and reminded the spirit is
within us all.
